Tying one’s self to another is unequivocally the most selfless gift someone can give. So many things in life are involuntary, the beating of our heart and the breath in our lungs. We live and eventually die, giving our life back to the earth, so that other life may exist and thrive. Yet, this act is done with complete knowing, a voluntary gift. Allowing your heart and your breath to breathe not only for yourself but for another. Giving the precious length of your life to another until “death do us part”. Exchanging silence for silence. I love that they chose the chapel at Old City Cemetery to exchange these precious vows. It flows seamlessly into the beauty and depth of the offering that is choosing a life partner.
Carolyn and Klaus’ wedding in Lynchburg was, I’m quite certain, one the most creative and full of heart weddings I’ve ever witnessed. It was a rainy day, which added so much to the enchanting charm, I’m convinced life arranged it that way intentionally. Eclectic details made for such a fun, bright and classic aesthetic. Classic, vintage and rustic details adorned Carolyn and the beautiful space chosen to celebrate their love. A few of my favorite details : The flowers were DIY by the bride’s sister, arranged elegantly with wild greens and fresh full blooms. The intimate family style was placed with mix and match china plates. A talented Celtic band serenaded the cocktail hour and a salsa instructor gave the guests a little dance lesson proceeded with lively dancing (I super impressed how quickly everyone picked it up).
Carolyn and Klaus were introduced while Carolyn was traveling in El Salvador for work. Klaus was a part of the couch surfing network there and hosted Carolyn during her trip. After they met, became friends and fell in love they began traveling the world together. Klaus proposed in their favorite cafe spot in Buenos Aires. They have now moved back to Virginia where Carolyn was born and raised and are currently renovating their new home. They have plans to continue traveling the world for work and play. Personally, I’m quite jealous of their adventures!
Congratulations you two! Wishing you the best on your incredible journey.
