Nicole & Joe Lydia Mountain Lodge Wedding

Nicole and Joe’s Lydia Mountain Lodge wedding was a needed reminder of how magnificent it is to be alive. One of the most exquisite gifts given to every single person on this enchanting planet is… (you guessed it) LOVE. We often struggle through life trying to solve the equation of what it is or how to attain it. Real, unconditional love. But really, in its most raw form it comes completely free. Often times we are surrounded by it without even realizing.

I witnessed many forms of unconditional love at Nicole and Joe’s wedding. I observed it in the Mother of the Bride’s soft touch as she helped Nicole get ready. It came in the form a Father’s gaze full of memories and affirmation.  Friendships and family locked in an unbreakable chain of support and memories. And of course the undeniable bond Nicole and Joe shared in every moment they were together. Truly I’m going to put this wedding in my back pocket as a sweet memento of how beautiful the world is.

I asked Nicole to share a bit of her love story prior to the wedding day with us.

    Regarding how they met:

Joe and I met back in high school. We were just friends then. We both were dating our high school sweethearts. We reconnected in 2011 after we both became single. We connected and we developed a close friendship that grew into a relationship. We offered support for each other as we were both going through a time where we were trying to move forward from our past. I believe we bring out the best in each other. We are a great team.

    Regarding the Proposal :

It was spontaneous. Joe was late coming home from work up in Northern Virginia on a Saturday. He said it was traffic and said he would be home soon. He finally got home around 3 pm. I was dressed in my blue maxi dress that I just bought and colored my hair that morning. I was upset he was late because we were supposed to have the day together. I expected him to be home earlier. I was hanging out with his brother, Daniel and his brother’s girlfriend, Brittany. He came home and said, “Lets go to a winery”. I thought he was trying to make me happy because I was upset. We all four went to Veritas Winery around 4pm. We bought two bottles of wine and proceeded to go out to the picnic area. Joe doesn’t like pictures but when I had the idea to take a few photos, he said, “Sure!” without hesitation. I thought that was weird. We proceeded to walk to the vineyards and I gave Brittany my phone and we did one pose and then Joe said, “let’s take some more”. That’s when he got down on one knee and I said YES! We have the whole moment captured. I was very surprised. Also, the reason why he was so late was because he was buying the ring that morning.

As you can see Nicole and Joe are some of the most authentic and fun couples out there. It was amazing working with them. Congratulations you two!

Curious who helped make this gorgeous wedding happen? Here’s all the phenomenal vendors I had the privilege of working with!

    Keswick Vineyard Princess Wild Editorial

These photos were seen on Style Me Pretty! Make sure to go over there and leave some love!

We all love a good story, especially when it ends with a white dress. Unlike most love stories, this one focuses on the love and honor for ourselves rather than the romance of another. This princess bride grew up on a beautiful estate surrounded by jewels and pretty things. In the midst of all she once knew and loved, there began an unfamiliar call within. It beckoned her to discover something deeper, something untamed. From there she followed the soft whispers that led her into the uncharted territories of her heart. The more she pursued them the more she found herself woven and spun in a harmony of elegance and wild abandon. She let down her hair and let the rain fall on her face. With bare feet she walked the wet ground and embraced the wind as it caught her dress as in a wild and natural dance. There she found a love more palpable than flesh and bone. There she met her true self.

We wanted to tell the story of this bride’s journey in the photos by uniting glamorous, sparkling details with natural earthy accents. We chose wild greenery and flowing fabrics that catch the wind, as if by magic, to symbolize her discovery. Beautiful emerald greens and soft grays were intertwined with all the details to mimic the earthy accents, and dark purple and gold to symbolize her royal background.

Some of the little details we hope you notice are the two different dresses sewn by personally by Greta, the DIY earth box holding the vintage gold ring, the little vines imprinted on the semi-naked caked wrapped in wild greenery, the gorgeous handwritten calligraphy written in emerald ink, the several crowns and tiaras used in her hair, the soft vintage ribbons adorning many of the detail shots, the perfect combination of wild and elegant greens for the bouquet/centerpiece, the brilliant change of hair styles through out the session and some of the old antique items (such as the books and photograph) to symbolize her past self.

        Charlottesville Ballerina Bride Clifton Inn

A Charlottesville ballerina bride stylized shoot : As seen on MAGONOLIA ROUGE

This shoot has been close to my heart since its inception. Dancing is an expression of the soul, a secret waiting to be told. I wanted to tell the story of a bride holding that secret on the day of her wedding: the butterflies, the excitement, the vast and un-containable love and the longing to see her groom getting ready in the next room.

This bride is a ballerina, and one that is unable to withhold her soul’s expression a moment longer. She straps on her dancing shoes, heads outside, and releases the depth of her heart like a flower gives its petals to the wind. She feels her soul coming alive with each carefully measured step, with only the sounds of her steady breathing and the gentle flutter of her dress as she moves to serve as accompaniment. She is strong, she is beautiful and she is ready to intertwine her life with another’s.

A huge THANKS to all of the incredible vendors who helped make this dreamy shoot possible!
