Michele’s Maternity

All I can say is WOW. Michele is shockingly beautiful and has a genuine heart to match it. The excitement she has for her soon coming little man is so very evident and contagious! I cannot wait to meet that sweet peanut. I so enjoyed sharing in the exuberant joy this family expressed. Little Abby stole my heart and was a star in front of the camera. She is going to make an incredible sister with all of her hugs and kisses. Michele and Dustin’s precious babe is going to be so blessed to be born into this incredible family.

A few words from the Momma herself. She has an incredible story. Michele writes :

“Dustin and I knew we wanted to have a baby and we started trying right away, we thought it would be easy and thought it would happen fast. 6+ months later we still weren’t pregnant. I went to my OB and then started going to a fertility doctor – lits of tests later revealed that everything seemed normal and I was labeled as “unexplained infertility”. We tried 2 different medications for about 6 months… no success and a lot of heartache month after month. We then moved on to a technique called IUI with injectible medications and hormones… we had really high hopes, but 2 IUI cycles later we still weren’t pregnant.

After time this all becomes very emotional and too much to bear. It was a dark, lonely time. I was angry – angry with myself, my body, angry at God. I wanted this baby so bad and I couldn’t understand why it wasn’t happening…  It was all too much, I cried and felt so broken-hearted. No one knew what to say anymore… the “one liner” words of wisdom no longer offered hope or peace. I started to think it was never going to happen, that it wasn’t God’s will… but ended up not being able to accept that because it was truly my deepest hearts desire and God doesn’t place that desire there without fulfillment. So I leaned further into God and we pressed on. At the start of 2014 Dustin was able to switch to an insurance plan at work that covered IVF – what a tremendous blessing, as there was no way we could afford it out of pocket! We started the process in January (lots more tests, insurance hoops, blood work every day, shots in my belly every night, etc) and we transferred 2 beautiful embryos on February 11th.

There in that sterile hospital room we prayed and cried and hoped. We placed all our trust in God’s promise and faithfulness. Waiting for 2 weeks was tough, you become insanely aware of your body and question every sign/symptom you have! I took a home pregnancy test… and for the first time ever I saw a result I have never seen before – it was positive!!!! I called Dustin in and asked him “what does this mean?!” and then took a different test… followed by a digital one, haha! We were shocked and happy and scared, all at the same time! I went to the doctor the next morning for a blood test and sure enough I was finally pregnant! What a blessing and my heart was filled with so much joy! This joy was at times replaced with fear… because the chance of miscarriage with IVF is higher…  The first weeks of ultrasounds were so precious and gave me so much peace. I was so grateful for my amazing team of doctors, they were so understanding. And here I am 31 weeks along carrying a precious baby boy – Elijah James. Elijah means “my Lord is God” – fitting for our precious gift from God. We couldn’t be happier and we are so excited for his arrival in October! Thank you to all of our friends and family that supported us through this journey, 22 months of ups and a lot of downs. In the end it was all worth it and I am stronger in spirit as a result. Eli – I love you more than words can say, my heart is full. Thank you Jesus, all of the glory and praise to you!”

Lindsey & Ed’s Wedding

Lindsey and Ed had a truly breathtaking wedding, which was not only rich with love but rich with culture and tradition. I had the amazing opportunity to shoot with the incredible April Bennett, who is a superstar photographer. It was such a treat to capture the magic of this wedding with her. On the morning of Lindsey and Ed’s wedding they chose to get ready at the gorgeous Clifton Inn, in Charlottesville VA, after which they headed over to the UVA Lawn to have their first look and proceeded to make their heart-felt promises to each other at the UVA chapel. The reception was held back at the Clifton Inn where, in honor of  Ed’s heritage, they preformed the traditional Korean tea ceremony. One thousand paper cranes were hand folded for good luck and put together as a chandelier to decorate the dance floor. This wedding was certainly not short of joy when everyone hit the dance floor and as their close friends and family toasted to Lindsey and Ed’s happiness. What an amazing day. This wedding could not have been more perfect.

    Ashley & Matthew’s Wedding

Ashley and Matthew chose to be married on a gorgeous open farm in Culpeper, Va. These two are as adorable as they come, and so very sweet. Both Ashley and Matthew are dairy farmers (who come from a family of dairy farmers) and chose to make that very much a part of their wedding day. There were so many fun touches of the country, farm, and anything dairy-related incorporated into the decorations. What fun! I had a hay day (so to speak) observing all of the incredible details of the event. One thing I can say that I felt resonated throughout every moment was personal connection. Everywhere you looked there was the love and support of family, depth of heart and friendship.

Their ceremony began with two rustic doors and was followed by rows of hay bales for guests to sit on. Gorgeous flowers surrounded the ceremony and the bride and groom were met with a hanging window, with pictures of loved ones passed below them. There was hardly a dry eye to be seen during the ceremony. The love and devotion Ashley and Matthew demonstrated towards each other was absolutely radiant. Their joy shone through endless smiles and stolen glances.

The reception was A-mazing. Toasts were given with heartfelt words, roasts, and funny stories. Guests were enjoying their drinks from mason jars and the dance floor was filled to the max with celebration. It was loads of fun to capture; I loved every moment of it.

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Hardesty! I’m so excited for you two, and I wish you all the happiness in the world!

Big thanks to my amazing Second Shooter  Kristen Uhler  who greatly contributed to these beautiful images.

      Hannah & Jonathan’s Wedding

Hannah and Jonathan chose the Frontier culture Museum for their country-fun-loving day of romance. This venue is rich with golden pastures, rocky trails and farm life. What a gorgeous choice for this special day! The personal touches at this wedding were straight from the heart and were warm with memories. Colors of purple and turquoise streaked across the ceremony and the reception; Intermingled with gorgeous flowers, antique frames and decorations adorned with burlap.

Hannah describes Jonathan as her true knight in shining armor. The first time she met him was when he offered to give her a ride home when she was stranded. These two could not have had more of a fairy-tale wedding. Every stolen look was heavy with love and devotion. I felt utterly caught in the middle of their romance, as if I was simply a bystander with a camera. Their romance was so authentic, and such fun to capture.

A barn filled with magical little lights was a perfect place to end this country fairy-tale. The depth of love and relationship I saw from both Hannah and Jonathan’s family and friends was incredible. It was an amazing gift to witness such a fun group of people, giving to deeply of their hearts. The reception was a great display of such an act and was such a fantastic celebration of two hearts becoming one. It couldn’t help but dance and sing along with everyone! What a blast!

Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Barnhill! Best wishes for a lifetime of bliss!

      Sarah’s Maternity Session

Look at this radiant girl. She brings “glowing” to a whole new level! I am blessed to know her personally, and can say with absolute certainty that she is one of the most beautiful women inwardly and outwardly that I’ve ever met. Her husband, Joe and their two boys are greatly anticipating the arrival of their sweet baby girl! The session was chalk full of kisses and hugs from all the boys. That little lady is going to be so loved.

It was such fun capturing Sarah’s radiance in the setting sun. We chose a lovely little historical landmark in Charlottesville Virginia with beautiful trails and gorgeous landscaping. I’m so excited to show you all these photographs. I hope I was able to convey the excitement and happiness that I saw so evident in this session.

Can’t wait to meet that mini angel!
