It has been such a joy thinking back to this incredible day in May of last year. It was rainy and a bit gray, colored by the hearts and souls of some of the most authentic and joyous souls that I’ve ever met. I remember this day like it had just taken place. These faces and their emotions have forever left their mark on me.
Go take a look… you’ll see what I mean.
Tiffany’s account of how they met :
Andrew used to work in International Development and totally switched gears when we moved to Pittsburgh to working for a manufacturing company. He would say he has no idea what his “profession” is. He’s also a crazy talented writer, likes working on his motorcycle, enjoys woodworking, and speaks French and Russian; he’s kind of a Renaissance Man! I finished up my Master’s degree May 2016 (the reason we moved to Pittsburgh) and work as a Social Worker for an organization that does workforce development and environmental work. Kind of a
weird but ultimately logical mix. I am an avid yogi, equal parts city and nature, enjoy music that takes you on a journey, and love meeting new people. Andrew and I met in DC through mutual friends. He is from the Pittsburgh area and when he moved down to DC a friend who lives in Pittsburgh told me about this interesting and well-traveled babe that now shares a city with me. We met a year after I found out about him and it
was CRAZY SPARKS FLYING AMAZING. Within about an hour of meeting we were holding hands and staring into each other’s eyes. We dated for a bit but he was traveling a lot for work and I was itching for another adventure. We split in April 2012 mostly blaming timing and life places and I left to spend a year in Ghana in August of that year. We spent a year and a half apart with no words exchanged. During my last few months in Ghana, Andrew spent 3 months on the Appalachian Trail, hiking by himself from West Virginia to New Hampshire. Apparently, I came up a lot during that solo hike and he reached out when he got back. We met up for wine and all the sparks were still there, we both grew a lot in the same direction, and we were ready to begin again. We have been happily together since that date, October 31, 2013. We got engaged two years later on October 13, 2015
Andrews account of the proposal :
Well, so it was Halloween and instead of getting ready for our anniversary fancy dinner, I was watching The Conjuring, a horrifically scary movie that I never finished and will never watch again, and by the time we were supposed to leave, Tippy was crying because she didn’t think I cared about our date. Little did she know that I was nervous bc I had the engagement ring in my pocket. No words spoken on the ride to the restaurant. A hefty martini later, though, she was fine. After dinner, I invited her to walk along Mt. Washington, overlooking downtown Pittsburgh. Playfully, she started asking me when I was going to propose. I was like, “WTF??” Anyway I managed to find an unoccupied overlook and dropped to my knee, pulled out the ring, didn’t drop it over the precipice, and asked her to be my wife. She responded, “What, are you serious??” But she said yes!!
Bethany here, again…. Oh my, aren’t they adorable? I just love these two.
A massive thank you and shout out to all of the incredible vendors who were the wizards behind the curtains!
